Kurt Nicoll to return to VMXdN Foxhill in 2024!

Kurt Nicoll is returning to the U.K. for the August bank holiday weekend to participate in VMXdN Foxhill 2024. However, this isn’t Nicoll’s first rodeo at Foxhill.

He formed part of Team G.B. in the inaugural VMXdN Foxhill International Team Race in 2022, alongside Brad Anderson and Mel Pocock as well as in the over-50 class. This year, Nicoll is returning to race in the over-50 class. But Nicoll’s no stranger to the iconic Wiltshire Grand Prix circuit, his history with Foxhill goes way back.

In the eighties and early nineties, Nicoll was one of the top riders in the Motocross Grand Prix World Championship. He finished runner-up four times in the F.I.M. 500 cc world championships, winning 13 World Motocross Grands Prix and 7 A.C.U. British National Championships.

Those reading this over 40 will most notably remember Nicoll as a member of the victorious 1994 British Motocross des Nations Team that included Paul Malin and Rob Herring. The victory marked the first time a British Team had won the event since 1967 and broke a 13-year American winning streak at the MXdN.

Nicoll has also had success across the pond as a veteran motocross racer winning the A.M.A. National Vet Championship in Endurocross in 2011 and 2012, and 2012 A.M.A. Vet Racer of the year.

Alongside racing, Nicoll has worked within the industry for K.T.M. as their Director of Racing from 1998 until 2009 and as General Manager of Travis Pastrana’s Nitro Circus in North America. Nicoll also runs his motocross vacation company, Kurt Nicoll’s Champion MX Vacations, based in Temecula, California.

After a date clash with the rescheduled Mammoth MX in California forced Nicolls to withdraw from the event in 2023, he is delighted to be back in 2024. Nicolls will be lining up alongside his teammate from the 1994 des nations Rob Herring in the plus 50 class. Nicolls will be on a KX 500 built by his brother and long-time mechanic Aaron Nicoll.

VMXdN Foxhill 2024 is shaping up to be bigger and better than the hugely successful 22 and 23 events, with ticket sales up year on year its predicted to be a ticket only event this year. Camping for the 2023 event was sold out and the organisers can only fit another 500 cars in the parking field so if you want to secure your place its recommended to buy well in advance.

VMXdN Foxhill is the motocross event of the year, described by RacerX magazine as “the Woodstock of 2 strokes” that brings together legends of the sport from both sides of the Atlantic past and present.

Tickets for the four-day festival are available from https://vmxdnfoxhill2024.eventbrite.co.uk
